The Adventures of the Dunners

October 5th, 2008

Our first adventure to Olallieberry Bed and Breakfast was the middle of August 2008.  My wife and I went there for a 2 night stay. If you end up sleeping in the “Room at Top” you can read my wife’s journal entry, but make sure to have some tissues as it is sure to bring a few tears (of joy that is).

We wish there was more time as we had so much to see and do. We did get a chance to visit Hearst Castle and if you have never visited, we highly recommend it! Here is a photo to get you excited!

You can contact Marjorie if you are interested in this photo.

After our visit to Hearst we took a drive around the beach areas to see the Elephant Seals… this is a must see. Different times of the year you can actually see the adult and kid seals.

We also came across a family of star fish:

You can see here 3 different color star fish.  It’s rare to find them like this in such shallow waters. Again talk to Marjorie if you are interested in the photo.

Besides our adventures we had a great time getting to know Marjorie and learning about the history of the Olallieberry Bed and Breakfast. We loved our bed! We loved it so much we wanted to stay there forever.

The breakfast was a huge surprise as everything was very fresh and incredible to eat. I would give details but I don’t want to cause a short in your keyboard from drooling.

We enjoyed our experience so much that we returned about a month later with our 2 boys.  Now it seems we have a tradition to visit Cambria and of course Olallieberry Bed and Breakfast every year.

EVENING TOURS HAVE BEGUN AT HEARST CASTLE

September 3rd, 2008

One of the most popular attractions on the Central Coast is the famed Hearst Castle.  It is a must-see for anyone traveling Highway One.  And right now you can enjoy the Castle at night as one of Hearst’s own visitors might have.  Evening tours are offered in the Fall and Spring and feature highlights from Tour One, Two and Four.  Docents in period costumes from the Living History Program show you what life was like during the Castle’s heyday.

The Evening Tour takes approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes, including the bus ride to and from the hilltop.  Visitors should be aware that the Evening Tour contains a large number of stairs.

Reservations are highly recommended and can be make online at Hearstcastle.com or by calling 800-444-4445.
